Sākam!
- When i started playing, there were not even a tutorial island, characters were given a choice to start with adventurer, mage, ranger or fighter (I chose ranger and started with a shortbow + 10 arrows)
- At that time as well, arrows were just arrows, there were no bronze, steel or rune arrows. JUST arrows.
- Those level 1 rats that your cats can catch used to drop bones as well.
- Rune large and rune kites was like 100k gp per piece. This was due to the fact that there were very little 90+ smithers and very few monsters drop such things too.
- Herblore was known as Herblaw
- Legends quest was the hardest quest in members during RSC times. Getting a legends cape is like getting a fire cape now.
- Runecrafting was the first skill that came out with RS2.
- The first quest that came out on RS2 was 'Big Chompy Bird Hunting' where it featured its first 'cutscene' of a moving screen
- The long chain quest which consisted of Biohazard, Plague city, Underground Pass, Regicide, Mourning's end part 1 and 2 start way back during RSC (The first 3 quest are in RSC). Jagex apparently made the long quest to give RS a 'storyline' last time if im not mistaken
Here's a fact, Bluerose13x was the first person to smith adam plates which was the best armour in the game at the time. With the help of thousands of screamin people with steel bars (i was one of them) she gave free steel plate smithing usually in varrock east anvils.
Player-Killing was toggled, it was so far back i can't remember for sure, I think you could only do it once toggle on and off, once you toggled it off from on, it stayed that way. correct me if i'm wrong, i was a hardcore noob on dial up back then.
Here's a good one some people might not know. Thousands of accounts were banned because a lot of people were using hacked/stolen credit cards to purchase p2p. It was one big over haul of bans. I forget when can't confirm a date.
1.Originally herblore was called “herblaw.” – Why? – I don’t know!
2.Treasure Trails (i.e. Clue Scrolls) – was one of the first pieces of new content added to the game after they switched from Classic to RS2
3.In-game moderators did*’t start until mid way through 2004, prior to that there weren’t any – also that’s when the little crowns (by moderator names) were first introduced.
4.Weapons did*’t have special attacks from the beginning – they have only been around for about 4 years.
5.The friends list used to hold only 100 names
6.Quest journals haven’t always been available. You just had to remember where you were in the quest and what the npc had told you to do.
7.There were no energy potions in the original herblore skill * they were added later.
1.There did not use to be an “empty potion” right-click on vials. If you wanted an empty vial, you had to drink the potion

1.There did not use to be an “empty potion” right-click on vials. If you wanted an empty vial, you had to drink the potion to get it.
2.The fountain of heroes – did*’t use to be in the basement. They moved it there to make it a little harder to recharge the glory ammys.
3.When monkey madness first came out – you HAD to do the puzzle yourself – there was no option to pay to have an npc do it. They added that option later.
4.Oh here is a great one – in Castle Wars...you could get your own flag and sit near the bandage table. Your friends could guard you and you were almost impossible to kill – because you could just keep grabbing bandages. The other team could not get the flag until you died. JAGEX changed this so once you were in your own castle the flag would automatically return to the stand.
-Dragon long sword used to be the "rune scimmy, " of the game if you know what i mean. It also looked alot like Bronze long so most people would wear bronze long if they didn't have to money, in order to look kool.
-Dueling was everywhere in members world. but you die and go back to lumbridge.
-You used to lose exp whenever you die, so hackers who had the time would de-leveled the people they hack.
-Mining, fishing, crafting, all of the non combat skill used to take 10x time longer to do because there were no Make 1 make x. There were also a chance of you failing to mine a rock, etc.. so players were much more attentive.
-You used to be able to only teleport when ou're out of combat
-As well as fighting, Range looks like a green spiked ball, and magic a orange one.
-100% of the runescape population used to play game Not for the graphics. Neither did Jagex.
-There was no run.
-the community used to be so much tighter, i could recall a vivid image of myself fishing in port sarim, there would be so many people there talking. When i say talking, i dont mean, "fishing level? cooking Level?, " then the conversation heats up to a contest of levels and a bunch of kids showing off their skill. Finally they bring their main, which one will not likely show up. Sad.
-Green mask used to be 400k blue 600k red 700k.
-The trading hotspot used to be, Draynor square for Raw materials like lobsters, and ores.
-Varrock palace garden for everything else, the higher up you go the pricier things gets. (i thought this was really unique.)
-Legends cape was the strongest cape ever.
-you used to have a box appear whenever you get into combat to pick combat style. Whenever you go in combat it goes into 'control', so there weren't too many perfect pures out there .
-Other players combat levels use to only be visible in the wilderness.
-In early Runescape mining and fishing use to be very intensive. You would have to open your inventory, click on your pick axe and then click on the rock. This had to be done EACH time. You also couldn't see if there was an ore in it. Fishing was the same wa

P.S. Liksies DRAUSMĪGI gari, bet ļoti interesanti
Rune 2 handers used to be sold for 1 million gp each when weapon speeds didn't exist. They were so rare and so dominant...then weapon speeds came, 2hs got super slow, nobody liked em.
Remember nat running for a "mole" guy that would pay you 10k each run.
Remember when mage bow had 2 specs per bar.
Remember when romeo woundnt just come up to you and talk..
Remember rule switching in your 20mill duel and still losing
Remember luring noobs to the dark circle in south varrock buy dropping a item up by the mages and watching them walk up and die... LOL SO MEAN
Remember hitting 7's at level 10 on your mage pure in f2p
Remember giving present for christmas to friends
For some time, you could only note (or cert) items, by seeking out Niles, Miles and Giles, who are no longer certers, but random events instead.
Before RS2, we had fatigue. Activities such as Mining and Wc'ing raised your fatigue and you had to stop these activities for a little while if you reached 100% fatigue; you could decrease fatigue by sleeping in a sleeping bag (bought from some General stores) or one of the many beds around RS.
Sleeping in either of these brought up a screen with a word, which was supposed to be hard for macroers to work out, but easier for real players. Entering the word allowed you to return to RS.
Back in the old days, Herblore was called Herblaw.
Back in the old days, there was this thing called fatigue, and you had to carry a sleeping bag or rest at a bed to recover it.
Back in the old days, there were such a thing as "soft" and "hard" rocks (this ties into my previous fact). Mining a soft rock was like mining a rock as they are today, and you gained minimal fatigue. Mining a hard rock meant you always got the ore in one hit, but gave a large amount of fatigue (around 15%).
Another thing related to mining, there used to be only one kind of pickaxe until the ones we have currently were released. But before this "swing until you get the ore" system came out, rune pickaxes would swing 12 times for you before you had to click the rock again. This number decreased by 2 for each pickaxe you went down.
Back in the old days, there was no weapon speed. Everything hit at exactly the same speed, even the two-handers!
Back in the old days, there was no Ledgends Guild or Ledgends quest!
Back in the old days, there was no dragon jewelery, or even dragon armor! Rune was the cream of the crop.
Go back far enough, and there will be no members! What is now F2P was the game, there was nothing else than that.
Back in the old days, the combat level was not displayed next to the players name, it was just there name. (Ex. Walk here Auron0 / 3 more options.
Back in the old days, Lumbridge was the prime spot for duelers (thats right, you could duel anywhere!) due to respawning being right there.

Fact 1: Used to be, players held 2-handed swords with one hand! You still could not weild a shield while weilding the 2h, but it gave off a very aggressive demeanor, as if you could lift anything.
Fact 2: Once upon a time, Falador wasn't white! It was just another city, like Varrock before they updated the graphics. The knights were still white, but their castle and city were not. Poor knights!
Fact 3: A long time ago, Relekka wasn't there! You know the little bridge right next to the maple trees near the sinclair mansion in seers? It was simply a broken bridge which you couldn't cross.
Fact 4: A while back, Jagex posted a staff picture of themselves after playing paintball! It can be found in the old News Archives in 2003. I believe it is called "Bang! I Win!"
Fact 5: Some time ago, RuneScape had a much different theme song! It was still the same basis of a Jingle, but it was a little less fulfilling. It can be heard in your music player, and it's called "Scape Classic"
Fact 6: Way back, Morytania ceased to exist! Or, most of it at least. The Priest in Peril quest wasn't around for a while, and even aftet the area of Morytania came around, there still was no Port Phasmatys, Burgh De'Rott, or Mos Le'Harmless.
Fact 7: A couple years ago, Lumbridge had no bank atop it! It was simply just a castle roof with 2 cannons, and a few standards. We had to walk all the way to Draynor to bank :O
Fact 8: (goes with fact 7) New players used to pay people to show them the way to a bank! It was a good source of money for the most part, some of them even would provide armor or runes. I was around level 14, so I was a newbie as well lol.
Fact 9: In days that were, there was no Magic Carpet service! We had to manually bear the harsh desert and pack along several waterskins. Those were hard times, let me tell you!
Fact 10: Quite a while ago, the Party Room was in seers village! It was right where the courthouse is, just in front of the bank. There were also a few more maple trees in front of it. I've partied many-a-times in that spot!
Fact 11: Monkey what? In the old days, the southernmost island was Karamja! Monkey Madness, Ape Atoll, and the D Scimmy had ceased to exist. We lacked a lot of hard quests, but the game still managed to be fun.
Fact 12: One of the first quest storylines was actually the Sea Slug quest! If you browse the old News Archives, you can see that one of the first articles introduces the quest.
Fact 13: Ages ago, Barbarians were simply levels 7-10 ! I can remember freaking out about whether or not I should fight them because I was only level 6 lol. The Barbarian Village looked much different, and had different theme music.
Fact 14: What wilderness ditch? In olden times, the wilderness ditch wasn't there! I myself have been lured into the wilderness several times, and only a few have I managed to escape. That was in the Golden Age of Pking.
Fact 15: In days of old, the Blurite sword in the "A Knight

I do really miss those days...
And a long time ago, the shortcut in the west wall of falador was one-way.
Agility shortcuts in general was very rare, i believe there were only 5 of them around.
I remember when castle wars was added to the world map before it was put in game. The forums were full of posts about what it could be. Slayer tower was put in the map at the same time.
KBD used to be the strongest monster, before kalphite queen came.
Before the debate between Regicide or legends being the hardest, there were a debate between legends and underground pass.
Once upon a time, banks only stored coins, and only up to 2500.
a.) Al Kharid was added a week or so after the game was
released. Before that it was simpy an ocean!
b.) There use to be no 'Buddy List.'
The best food we could have was pineapple pizza.
When RS2 was released, the only dragon items were:
Longsword, Dagger (without p+ or p++!), Mace, Battleaxe, Shield, Spear and Medium helmet.
Full helmets used to be called "Large helmets".
Once there were no bank notes. Instead, some items could be exchanged for stackable "Certs", at draynor market. The NPC* that used to do this for us does now appear as random events.
Dragon battleaxe did once have the highest attack and strength bonuses of all weapons.
We haven't always been able to run...
Updates weren't made on a regular basis.
Before RS2, you could range and at all monsters at any time, even those that other players were fighting. And more than one person couldn't use melee on the same monster.
There used to be different platebodies for males and females...
- When the game first came out there was no Wilderness, you either had to pick Player-Killer or Non Player-Killer, and you can only switch once or twice I think. Players used to be able to fight other players anywhere! They had to be about 4 levels higher or lower to fight though, if I remember correctly.
- When you were banned you were still able to log onto your account, but you were stuck in a Black Hole. That was what the "Disk of Returning" was used for..For unbanned users to go to the Black Hole to check it out and return safely to the outside.
- In RuneScape Classic the max combat used to be 123.
- Fishing wasn't always a skill, it wasn't released until a little later the game came out.
- There was no duel arena, you got to duel anywhere. Lumbridge was the "unofficial" duel arena, because when you lost in a duel you would end up there. That is where most of the high stakes where.
People you were thieving from used to attack you rather than knock you out/do damage.
You couldn't retreat until 3 rounds of combat were over. Until then you were locked into battle.
Everyone pked at "the wall" which is essentially the Ardougne/Wilderness teleport lever.
Runecrafting was released along with Runescape 2.
Slayer was the first non-runecrafting skill added.
The first Bandos Godsword was sold for 80M,
